What is Graphic Recording?
Graphic recording is the process of note-taking with illustration. Presentations are synthesized in real time into colorful drawings and hand lettering, intriguing viewers the day of the event. The end result is a large scale illustration, a resource for revisiting the content of an event long after its over. Think of it as a journey, a kind of visual storytelling.
Graphic recording keeps attendees engaged, entertained, awake — and off their phones! Graphic recording is an excellent service for corporate retreats, conferences, brainstorming sessions, team-building exercises, design thinking strategy, hackathons, educational purposes and more. Digital illustrations (for a separate fee) can be produced after the event. The Paper Pusher style is known for being comprehensive and layered, allowing viewers to delve deeply into each illustration through different paths.
We start with a 20-minute phone consultation to discuss the event you would like captured. Some questions you may be asked include:
"How many people will be in the room?"
"How will you use the recording when the event is over?" (Some ideas include press releases, social media, internal communications, external stakeholder e-blasts...)
"What priority ideas would you like attendees to walk away with?"
Once the details are agreed upon, an estimate is sent and a digital signature with deposit locks in your date. The paper drawings are yours to keep to scan, frame, or manipulate for future use. Arrangements can also be made to ship the drawings to you for an additional fee.
Pleases note, pricing will not include transportation and accommodation fees. For more information or to book your graphic recording services, contact Yen at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our attendees loved watching Yen work and treasured her work not only as a memento of our event, but also as a tool to be able to walk their colleagues and friends through what transpired at our hackathon. I cannot recommend Yen enough – her talent, charm, and professionalism made it such a delight to partner with her!

Much like graphic recording, sketch notes capture the content of what is being said in real time. It's fresh and active, but smaller on high-quality 11 x 14" drawing paper. Content is captured sitting in the crowd. That means viewers are paying attention to the person speaking but you still have the benefit of a drawing at the end of the event for marketing, publicity, internal messaging, and external branding usage. This is a widely used method for educational and organizational gatherings.
